These candy cane cookies are easy and fun to make, and the red and white stripes look great on a holiday season cookie plate.

How to store sugar cookies: The candy cane sugar cookies can be stored in an airtight container: at room temperature for about 3 days. in the refrigerator for about a week. in the freezer for up to 3 months. To keep your cookies looking their best, place a layer of parchment paper between each layer of cookies.

Ingredients:
All purpose flour - 2 1/2 cups
Butter - 1 cup at room temperature
Powdered sugar - 1 cup
Eggs - 2
Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
Almond extract - 1 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Instructions:
In a bowl add 1 cup of butter(room temperature), beat the butter either with electric beater or whisk.
Now add 1 cup of powder sugar to the butter.
Crack open 2 eggs, with vanilla and almond extract. Now beat all the ingredients well until smooth.
In other bowl add, 2 1/2 cups of flour , with salt and mix together.
Now add the flour to the wet ingredient and mix them
Knead them to form a dough.
Divide the dough into two, take 1 part and add red food colour and mix with the dough.
Place both the dough into separate cling wrap,keep in fridge and chill for half and hour.
Now take the chilled dough into rolling board and roll them thick, cut them straight and make a stick shape, repeat same step for red colour.
Take each colour rolled sticks and twist them well and slightly bend them on top, just like umbrella shape .
Place them on parchment lined baking tray and bake them in pre-heated oven in 200 degree for 10 minutes.
Once baked cool the cookie and serve.
