Nap Naang from Indian State Nagaland

Nap Naang is a exotic pudding recipe from the North Eastern state of Nagaland which tastes absolutely lip-smacking. This exotic dish is essentially a black rice pudding cooked using only 4 ingredients, black rice, milk, sugar and water. This recipe is also popular in Thailand where instead of milk, coconut milk is used. This delicious pudding has a rich texture and a nutty flavour that will be relished by people of all ages.

Cuisine : Indian

Prep time : 10 minutes

Process time : 20 minutes

Total time : 30 minutes

Ingredients: 

  • Black rice - 1 cup

  • Milk - 1 cup

  • Sugar - 1/4 cup

Instructions:

  1. Soak the black rice over night and add into pressure cooker

  2. Add milk to it and mix and pressure cook for 5 whistles

  3. Mashed the cooked rice

  4. Now add sugar to it and mix

  5. Cook again for 5 minutes again

  6. Serve warm or chill
